Delegates

This course is designed for anyone caring for children and fulfils the requirements of OFSTED and the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).

Certificate

On successful completion of the course, the delegate will receive an FAA Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid (QCF) certificate which is valid for 3 years.

Overview

Introduction – Tutor introduction, course details and administration followed by delegate introductions.
Syllabus –
Day one – (Unit one: Paediatric Emergency First Aid)

Role of Paediatric First Aider / Acts and Regulations
Primary survey
Secondary assessment
Resuscitation and epilepsy
Airway obstruction
Wounds and bleeding
Anaphylaxis
Day two – (Unit two: Managing paediatric illness and injury)

Bones, joints and muscle injuries
Head and spinal injuries
Foreign body and eye injuries
Chronic medical conditions and illnesses
Effects of heat and cold
Electric shock incidents
Burns and scalds
Poisoning
Bites and stings
Questions and Answers – There are ongoing questions and answers during the course to clarify and query any of the points raised.
Assessment –There is an ongoing practical assessment by the trainer and a written workbook completed throughout the course.
